Loma Linda University PossAbilities to host wheelchair and walker collection drive

LOMA LINDA, CA – Sept. 28, 2012 – Loma Linda University PossAbilities is hosting a wheelchair and walker collection drive to benefit Joni and Friends Wheels for the World.

Drop off any new or used non-electric wheelchairs, canes or walkers between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, at the PossAbilities office, 25455 Barton Rd., Suite 109A, Loma Linda, Calif. 92354. Electric wheelchairs cannot be accepted due to the cost of transportation. A tax donation receipt will be provided by Joni and Friends Wheels for the World.

Loma Linda University PossAbilities is a free non-profit outreach program whose goal is to offer disabled people who were born with or who have suffered a permanent physical injury a sense of community. The mission of PossAbilities is to provide new direction and hope for disabled people through physical, social, educational, and spiritual interaction with peers and their community.

Joni and Friends Wheels for the World, as part of its Christian ministry, provides free wheelchairs to children and adults affected by disability worldwide. The wheelchairs are collected nationwide and restored by inmates at correctional facilities across the country to like-new condition.
