Thank you Trek!

Thank you Trek!

Hello PossAbilities Family,

I’m writing today to share this bundle of joy I have been experiencing: I got a new bike from Trek!! She is pretty, she is sexy and she is fast! Her name is Speed Concept, but I think it’s fair that we call her The Speed Demon!

Let’s start from the beginning. I must acknowledge Fabio Maia, PossAbilities, Greg Johnson, Trek, Cotie Williams and Pedro Payne for this. When I was first starting on the triathlon path, Cotie said, “we could help you get a Trek if that’s ok with you,” to which I responded “heck yeah!!” Fast forward to a few Century rides here and there, and one day I sent pictures to a friend, owner of a restaurant I worked for 2 years, the BoathouseBoathouse. These are the same guys that threw a huge fundraiser to help me get my first prosthesis. And he says, “I’m friends with the President of Trek, let me send these pictures his way!” A few months later and I’m cycling with the man himself (Mr John Burke) and his sweet wife, who are the nicest people you could meet!

A couple weeks ago I wrote Mr and Mrs. Burke an email with updates on my racing, and said that for next year I’d like to get a time trial bike. The following week I have guys from Trek calling me asking for my size and measurements, saying that “John wants to see you on a Speed Concept.” From there on I could barely sleep!! When the box arrives at the shop, we take the bubble plastic out to discover that the frame was owned by Jens Voigt, a fantastic cyclist! I’m so honored and I feel so blessed to be in this situation. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.
