Team PossAbilities: St. George Marathon and JetBlue Long Beach Marathon

It was a great weekend for Team PossAbilities at the St. George (UT) Marathon and Long Beach Marathon (CA).  St. George was beautiful and the community turned out in droves to support the racers.  It’s no wonder this race is ranked one of the most scenic and most well organized marathons by Runners World Magazine.  We took off fast and were quickly separated with good drafting techniques by the lead racers.  I was running second for the first 7 miles and took my opportunity to charge on the first big hill at mile 7.  Despite losing my chain 3 times, 2 times in the last mile and within sight of the finish line, I was able to keep rolling and put it back on.  I was able to finish first and Team PossAbilities member Tavian Brian was able to take 3rd.  As soon as we crossed the finish line we packed our bikes up and made the 6 hour drive to Long Beach.  With warmer weather and coastal views, we started off fast again.  Team PossAbillities dropped the field quickly and me, Tavian Bryant, and Alfonso Garibay pushed hard.  Tavian was feeling strong that day and he managed to take the win with Alfonso and I not far behind.  Alfonso kept us honest with some strong attacks.  It was awesome to see such a strong showing from Team PossAbilities and race side-by-side some great athletes.  I was able to take 2nd on the day.  Overall, I was pleased with my performance but would have liked to have stood atop the podium on Sunday.  I told Tavian “I’ll get you at the next one”.  I love being a member of Team PossAbilities!
