Marathon WeekendChris Sproule
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to race in the St. George Marathon on Saturday in Utah and the Long Beach Marathon on Sunday in California. After winning the St. George Marathon the last two years, I felt the pressure to come up with a victory again this year. It was dark, cold, rained, and even hailed but I managed to come away with the win again. The competition was tough and we hit speeds in excess of 60 mph. I had a faster time than my previous two wins with less of a tailwind and more adverse weather conditions. I was pleased with my performance but there was no time to celebrate because it was off to Long Beach for the next race. Long Beach started off well and I was in the lead for a while but a wrong turn and some mechanical issues cost me the win. I got second but was disappointed with the result. It seemed like a lot went wrong that day and it’s hard to win races when that happens. Overall, I was pleased with my effort and performance over the weekend. These races wrap up my racing season for the year and I am currently putting together the racing schedule for next year. I am confidant next year will be my best yet!
