Tavian Bryant – Living the DreamTavian Bryant
It has been an amazing month. 7 races over a 10 day period in 2 different states. I made my first trip to Wisconsin to race in the Tour of America’s Dairyland. The Tour of America’s Dairyland featured four straight days of racing four criterium courses in four different cities around southeastern Wisconsin. A criterium is a circuit race on a closed course in which we complete several laps over a 30 to 35 minute time period. I really enjoy racing crits because they are usually fast, flat and fun.
The next stop on the circuit was the main event, Para-Cycling Road Nationals. Para-Cycling road nationals took place in Nashville, Tennessee and surrounding areas. The years training is shaped around this event, and your goal is to come into this event ready to perform at your peak. The events featured at the national championships are a time trial, a team relay, and a road race. This was my first time competing in a team relay event. It was a fun experience, and I look forward to doing it again.
This is the end of the season for me, and it has been the best one yet. Four road racing series for me this year, that is definitely a full season, and I am happy with my growth and progress. At the same time, I am not done. I will take a week off to reflect and recover, and get right back to training after that. I’ve already started to look forward to the things next season will bring.
