All the PossAbilitiesChris Sproule
One of my favorite events of the year with PossAbilities is not a race at all. The Celebration Dinner, which occurs annually around Christmas, brings together families, friends, contributors, employees, and volunteers for a very special night. The first year I attended the Celebration Dinner as a PossAbilities athlete, I did not know what to expect. How big was it? What was the attire? What exactly was going to happen? When I rolled in, I was awestruck. Elaborate decorations…great food…the time it took to put something together the magnitude of this event. These were all amazing feats in themselves, but that’s not what I was in awe of. As a new PossAbilities athlete, I had no idea how big the PossAbilities program was and how many people they helped. I learned that this program is tailored to persons with physical disabilities such as limb amputation, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and others. To see the many families at this dinner that PossAbilities has helped was humbling. To see the struggles of others and the obstacles they have overcome with the assistance of PossAbilities suddenly made my bike riding as an athlete seem very insignificant. People often look for organizations to contribute to that make a difference in the community and in people’s lives. Search no further…PossAbilities changes lives!
