New Year, New Team
Hey everyone, my name is Ryan Pinney and I am excited to be a part of Team Posaibilities this season! I was born, raised, and live in Phoenix, Arizona. I have a wife, Meagan, and daughter, Addison that have been a huge support in my journey as a Handcyclist. I have raced for the Air Force in both the Warrior Games and the Invictus Games, I was previously a member the Paralyzed Veterans of America Racing Team, and have been a member of 2019, 2020, and 2021 Team USA Paracycling.
Ever since my first Redlands Bicycle Classic in 2015, I have had a lot of respect for the work that Cotie Williams and Team Possabilities have done within the ParaCycling community. Since then, I have grown as an athlete and have pushed myself to be the best HandCyclist I can be. The reason I ride is not just because I love to be on the bike, but to also be able to show everyone what is possible regardless of what life throws at you. I am very excited to represent Team Possabilities in 2021 and to continue to push myself to achieve many goals I have set this year and for years to come.
2020 was a very hard year for everyone, it was a year that had many challenges. And for many of us competitive cyclists, we had our races cancelled time and time again. Since races were being cancelled, finding motivation to train was becoming difficult. COVID has taken a lot away from all of us. Some more than others. However, I had to continually tell myself that the one thing COVID was not taking away from me was my bike and the reason why I ride. If the ultimate reason to ride is for a medal, then, with no medals to race for, the motivation would definitely go away. The reason I ride is because I love my bike. I love being on the road and being free to go where ever I want. I love pushing myself to go places on a handcycle that you typically won’t see a handcycle on. I love showing everyone what is possible.
Thank you to Cotie and LLUMC for bringing me onto the team, I am looking forward to an amazing year.
