2021: What’s the Plan? Predictions?Chris Sproule
In January 2020, I had an amazing plan for training and racing to set me up for success for the year. By March 2020, that plan was tossed out the window. With events, races, group training, and everything in between cancelled, most of us paracyclists found ourselves indoors on our handcycle trainers trying to figure out how to expand our workout capabilities at home and watching YouTube videos to find creative ways to workout with limited or nonexistent gym equipment. We got creative, figured out new ways to do things, and made it work…much like we did when we faced life altering injuries. We overcame…we adapted…and we succeeded. For 2021, the goal has been a bit more simplified and pure as we get back to basics. I train everyday to be prepared to race tomorrow. Whether that happens or not, we shall see. But here is my prediction for 2021: Races will be cancelled but we will race this year. Team PossAbilities will be represented on the United States National Team for multiple sports. We will have the Paralympics in Tokyo and Team PossAbilites will be represented. All of the members of Team PossAbilites will improve and grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Let’s see if I’m right in my year end review! I’m excited and optimistic for 2021 and know our greatest accomplishment are yet to come.
