Hard Work

Whats the reward for hard work? More hard work. After having a pretty successful Swamp Classic and getting some of the rust from the lack of racing knocked off, there is no time for celebrations or for time off. This is not one of the goals from this 2021 year. The ultimate goal is the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Since this is the goal, I need to get back to my training sessions right away. Racing is fun and, honestly, the reward for the many many hours of training. Racing maybe a total of  hours on the bike, when it came to the Swamp Classic, but for those 3 hours, there have been thousands and thousands of hours just to perform for those 3 hours. It seems like a lot but to be an elite hand-cyclist nowadays it is a full time job. There are many many sacrifices that are made for just 3 hours of racing. Sacrifices that not only I have made but sacrifices that my family has also made in order for me to be able to race. And race at my best for those 3 hours. They also understand that even though the Swamp Classic is done, it is now onto training for the next race which means more sacrifices. It has become a way of life for me and my family. And, to be honest, it has become the norm in this Paracyclist Family. Not only is the hand bike and Paracycling my passion, I know that my family loves to see me successful in something I am so passionate about. Being able to reach my goals and my dreams is for me, but I also want my family to be able to celebrate in any and all successes from the many sacrifices they made. Now back to hard work in order for the reward of more hard work.
