Recovery Week – WOOT WOOT
Well I am a week out from leaving for the US ParaCycling Tokyo Team Trials. I have just completed a four week training block and it is time to recover before I travel to Minneapolis. I am arriving early so I can learn the lay of the land, ride the course as much as possible so I memorize every turn, grade change, asphalt change or what ever else I need to memorize so that I have the best possible performance.
It’s weird knowing everything I have done for the last five years will come down to a 17km race. 19 women will be charging to gain a roster spot of which we have 6. There are some interesting things though concerning those 6 slots, for instance the International Paralympic Committee will designate certain disability categories as ring fenced which means it does not matter how that athlete does they will earn a spot on the team.. If things hold true doing the breakdown from years passed. The women will actually only have 2 slots open come the day of the race. So yep ultra slugfest.
This is why this week is so important. To be able to put my best effort in I must recovery my body and mind. So I am grateful for this recovery week.
