First Tokyo Prep Camp CompleteShawn Morelli
I wanted to give you a quick update on how my final month of Tokyo prep is going. I spent 6-10 July at the Velodrume in Carson, CA. Here we conducted a Team Track Camp, this consisted of two sessions each day. I was very nervous about camp because it had been almost two years since I had ridden the track. I had no idea what to expect.
My coach put together a great training schedule and we had a very productive camp. I worked in gears I have never ridden before and I did well. This gives us a very good idea what I will be able to do in the future. During our next camp we will pin point what gear I will race in during my Tokyo event on the Velodrume.
This week 12-18 July is Time Trial centric meaning we will be conducting a very heavy training week on the TT Bike to further prepare me for the that event in Tokyo. This week will be a huge challenge that I am looking forward to.
The next team camp will be 24 July – 3 Aug back in CA. This will be a road and track camp meaning I will spend the first few days training in Solvang on the road then I will move back to the track in Carson, CA. I will let you all know how this goes as well. My final two weeks of prep will back home in Kansas. My coach is flying in from South Carolina to spend 6-16 Aug with me and make sure we are dialed in. Then its go time, 16 Aug I board the plane for Tokyo.
Stay tuned for more updates as my training moves along.
Thanks again to all of you who contribute to this great program that allows me and all my teammates opportunities to reach our goals and fulfill our dreams.
