Hello everyone, today was race day. I competed in the 3km Individual Pursuit on the velodrume. It was a hard day in many aspects. We had some problems with the front end of my bike which caused a delay in my qualifying. This was a very stressful time. I could have been disqualified because my bike was not ready to go. I am grateful that Team Australia was understanding and that the officials gave our team some extra time.

This delay affected me in many ways, you expend a lot of energy when you get stressed, your adrenaline starts to go which releases cortisol into the body. Not great for performance. I tried to stay calm and breath through what was going while praying that I be allowed to race.

So finally my bike passes inspection and I get in the start gate. I know have to harness all that emotion and ride a personal best in order to make it into the medal rounds. Some how I was able to do this, I rode the fastest pursuit I have ever ridden and it got me into the gold / silver

Unfortunately this round did not go the way I hoped but I was up against a very strong competitor. I gave it everything I had left in the tank, it was not enough for gold but I did bring home the silver, and a personnel best in the event.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible I am so glad I could represent you on the worlds largest stage.
