Life after Tokyo

Life after Tokyo

Well I been home about 3 weeks now. I would like to say it has been a nice calm relaxing time but it has been crazy. Partly my fault,. After returning from Tokyo I had about 5 days home and then we left for a camping trip which included a 120 mile gravel race.

The camp out was great, our friends and I both got spots in a small RV park. We had a group of 4 RVs so a nice group of us camping and racing. The race was by no means in my recovery plan but my friends had talked me into this months ago at the time I thought “oh yeah that will be fun”. After returning from Tokyo I was thinking “why did I think this was a good idea”.

The camp out was fun, and the race went well. I somehow managed to come in 1st, finished in 7 hours and 48 minutes. I was not trying to win, then at the second check point I was told by the aid workers I was in first and I thought “well I might as well give this a go” and off I went.

Upon returning from the camping trip I was home a couple days then took off for Pennsylvania to be with my mom and dad for a couple weeks while my dad started his cancer treatments. The next few months will be hard and I will be doing some back and forth between Kansas and Pennsylvania but its what family does and I do not mind it.

I have nor yet decided what this next year will look like a lot will depend on how my dad does. I would like to say – I will be back out there throwing it down and doing the best I can but I just don’t know yet.

Thank you to everyone for all the support, prayers and good wishes.
