September 2022

As we’re approaching October and what does not feel like fall, still highs over 100, here in Phoenix I’m really excited to start getting longer rides in. As mentioned last month I am in the gym lifting weights and then gradually building back miles on the bike. One of my favorite things to do is just go ride for a couple hours and enjoy the sites, think, say hello to those I see on the trails, and more. I’ll compare getting out and riding to being recharged. It is beyond energizing! Vitamin D? Yes, please! I’m also heading up north to Salt Lake City in a couple weeks for a few days to ride with a friend of mine that got me started on the ebike. We’ll go do some 3 plus hour rides each day on paved trails with a view of the mountains. I’ll let you know how that few days go next month in my post.

In other news I’m still teaching classes at the University, teaching an emotional resilience class at my church on Sunday, and trying to not be single. I really enjoy spending time around the students. As much as I get to teach them about courses related to kinesiology, they help me as well. Well, the ones that do their work and participate in class. They need to keep their grades up to participate in their sport at the school. I cannot let them show me up. I cannot be a hypocrite and talk the talk if I’m not going to pull my weight and train hard. I’m grateful they ask me questions on improving performance in academics and their respective sport. This gives me more purpose. Helping them plan careers appropriately and finding the most efficient way to get there is something else I enjoy helping them do. Just like teaching the emotional resilience class at church, helping students, or serving in other ways I feel it is of utmost importance to have purpose. Something that means a lot to me is if my purpose is pleasing to the eyes of our Lord.

My post is a bit shorter this month but much to say next month. Remember, it’s all about crank arms and derailleurs so stay focused on the journey.
