Final Countdown to Paris 2024 Qualification

Final Countdown to Paris 2024 Qualification

Hello, we are officially 2 weeks away from the 2024 Loma Linda US Paralympics time trial! This is the last event in a series to qualify for the 2024 Paralympics in paracycling. There are a lot of people looking to put in the best performances of their life at this race. If you want points, only awarded to the top 8, you best put in your top performance. Personally, I am much more confident than I have been in the previous two months. I got over 6 days of sickness after returning from Italy and started back to what I knew with respect to training. I became overtrained before heading to Europe and it showed in my performances. There was one bad performance and 3 mediocre performances. The bad performance could have sealed my ticket to Paris. So, here we are 2 weeks before the big event. I performed my 2nd best effort yesterday which was a great sign of how I am feeling. I could have gone harder as well which is another positive. Fingers crossed the progression continues.

When I was very young I remember sitting on the bleachers at the local swimming pool listening to our swim coach talk to us about competitive swimming and what could be. I remember I thought that one day I could go to the Olympics. I remember that thought hitting me like it was a real possibility. Road biking became my passion, I won some national championships, landed on the US Cycling Team, raced among category 1-2 and orofessionals, that thought feeling I had as a child may come true. But, an automobile accident and spinal cord injury ended that trajectory, or I thought it did. I needed an attitude change last month after returning from Europe. I was overwhelmed with, what I think, was an unfairly developed standard and other events leading up to and getting to Europe. I hate saying this but it is what it is. I feel good now and I will feel better over the next 2 weeks. I need to stay on top of my sleep, keep stress low, take my supplements and watch my diet, and most importantly keep my head in the game. It would be absolutely amazing if I could title my book, My Road to Paris. I wrote a book in 2005 but did not like the ending as I felt a better ending would come. Maybe this is it. I’ll blog after the July 7th event and let you all know what happens. Please send good vibes.
