The Offseason Brings New Goals
Since the paralympic trials I have enjoying some time to reset and recover after the last few years of training towards making the paralympic team. Don’t worry though the goal of making a paralympic team doesn’t stop there. I will continue intense training soon in hopes of making it to the 2028 paralympics which will be in my home state of California. With how much paracycling is getting faster and more talented every year, this will take all my dedication to make this goal a reality. I’m up for the challenge though.
Now that the offseason is in full swing I took a little time off the bike to get some projects done around the house. When you’re a cyclists that competes though time off the bike is short lived. After my time off I got back to riding but completely unstructured riding. No workouts just riding for a few weeks. Now I’ve added some structured workouts but mostly intervals I like to do. I’ll be taking time off again in November then it will be back to intense training and long rides to get ready for the 2025 season. Even though my riding has been cut down quite a bit I’ve been staying busy with Team PossAbilities doing various events and peer visiting. This month I had the pleasure to be in a fashion show presented by Team PossAbilities to help raise money for the program. At the show there was a “silent auction ” and all proceeds went to the program. First fashion show I’ve ever been in and I had a great time doing it. September has also been a busy month for me with peer visiting. This i really enjoy doing though because it gives me the opportunity to turn someone’s negative into a positive. Being in a life changing situation is tough and if I can help make that situation just a little better It makes me feel like ive helped them. I know I was helped alot when I was first injured and I don’t know where I’d be without that help.
Stay tuned for what cool changes I’m making to my training for next year. Now is the time to try new and different things in my training. I’m excited for what’s to come.
