Indoor Landgraaf not so well

Indoor Landgraaf not so well

Howdy folks.

Today I share about my last race, banked slalom (indoor) at Landgraaf in the Netherlands. I missed this place, it’s so fun and practical, the course is epic to test your mettle, not to mention I was 1st here, (twice!) last year at Europa Cup.

This year I was back in the elites, racing World Cup -the highest level, so very unlikely to take 1st again.

With 2 weeks before the race, I noticed a crack on my snowboard prosthesis socket, something that could likely be dangerous. So I had it duplicated, kinda last minute, and a bad error was made in the fabrication. Still, that’s what I had to train/race with, so I took it; and an old back up socket, just in case…

None of them worked well, one was too loose and the new one was hurting me. So training went ok, races not so much. Day one of racing I took 7th place. Day two, pain + fatigue were real, I made mistakes on both of my qualifying runs, fell on both and got disqualified. There were a few others that also got DSQ, so had I not fall in one of the runs, I’d be looking good in my Paralympic qualification.

This was my worst result ever, and I hope that was rock bottom and it never happens again. Brush it off and onto the next.
