Practice Practice Practice

Hello everyone! Another month has gone by already.

February was one of steady progress, lots of training and sparring and kettlebells. I’m sparring with someone on the Canadian National Team who’s able bodied and a lot bigger and stronger and faster than me so it’s mostly me getting beat badly haha. But it’s forcing me to get smarter and more skilled while also making me faster and stronger so it’s the best training I can get.

I’m also working to put on more muscle in order to increase how many points I can do before fatigue. So lots of dieting and forcing down protein. It’s working and while I slow down towards the end of a practice I don’t ever gas out or reach failure anymore.

Competitions this year will be strategic. When I am on the road competing all the time I’m not improving very much and I lose athleticism due to being off my diet and sleep and training schedules. So the plan is to go to a handful of events and mostly stay at home practicing and working so that I can enter the next 18 month qualification cycle in mid 2026 at the highest level possible.

Other than hours in the gym and at work there’s not a lot to report! Work, Train, Recover, Repeat!
