1 month away

Hi, just wanted to post an update here for the month of july. It’s July 24th and approximately just over a month until the World Championship time trial and road race in Belgium. I am on an easy week right now with training and definitely putting emphasis on taking it easy. Last week I posted all new best power numbers for 5, 10, 20, and 60 minutes. Whenever I do a ride like that I need to take a few days easy post effort. I set the week up so Thursday and Saturday were my hard quality days as those correlate with Thursday and Saturday races at the World Cup events and World Championships. After this week is over it’s back to a few weeks of quality training before the we officially race.

Other than training there’s not a lot going on. I’m getting the syllabus going for the class I start teaching and just over two weeks at the university. Exercise testing and prescription is a 16 week course I will teach. I was just asked to teach motor development but have not accepted yet. That’s a course a bit outside of my knowledge base and I don’t feel fully comfortable teaching it. It’s going to take some more prep than I may want to give to teach it and students deserve somebody that knows the material very well.

Other than the above, spending some time make sure in the bike is all dialed in so I don’t run into any problems while competing in Belgium. I’m still not sure if I will use the tubeless tires versus clenchers. Replacing some di2 wires as well. I have not fully switched over to SRAM. I need a little more time before fully switching. Di2 is so easy although there are wires. Not always easy to move away from what’s familiar.

During my next blog I’ll update on what’s happening and how I am feeling before the world championships. And let’s hope, fingers crossed, there’s even better news on the follow-up post in September post World Championships! I’ve already qualified for the National B, no known as the silver team, for 2026. If I get a medal at the world championships that puts me on the a, or gold, team for 2026. That, would be amazing!
