End of the year and next season
It’s the end of the year and time to reflect, think, and plan!
This year had huge gains in terms of athleticism and skill and I saw the results in Thailand. I beat one of the best French fencers and went 5-4 with 2 more. My DE against a top Russian fencer was also very close. Taking a year to train and not go to competitions and training camps was the right move.
I am going to redouble my efforts and begin the push for LA. This season will have another solid 11 months of training and gaining muscle, improving my cardio, and restarting competitions. There will be 2-3 North America Cups, 3 World Cups, and 1 Zonal Championship at the end of the year. The zonal will be the first and likely highest point event in qualifying for LA28. Winning the zone will almost secure my spot, and anything less than 2nd place will make getting enough points difficult.
I am going to specialize into epee since it is by far the best fit and where I perform the best. The main thing left to develop is my finger strength and stamina so that I can get the tip around and maintain accuracy into the later rounds.
I am looking forward to training, improving, and breaking into the top 8 in the world!
