Marching ahead
Hello! It’s time for the the first submission of March that I’m gonna provide for you. What I mean is that I want to provide a second update at the end of the month on how my training and preparation is going. We will find out in 10 days or so on our selection to World Cups two and three in Belgium and Italy. I may have heard, from someone, that I have already been selected based off of my performances in 2025 at the World Championships. This is good, it takes stress off. Although, I think stress can be good at times but the anxiety that it can cause is definitely not welcome. I was just teaching in class last week about vigor. When the vigor is at its highest we typically perform at our best according to research. As long as vigor is high, stress, anxiety, and more are low as a result. When one of the four less favored signs are high vigor will be low. I feel like I’m gradually coming out of active rest. I do feel I’m out of that right now with taking on the training more time at a lower intensity. This benefited me last year. I only spent a little bit of time weekly in the zone 3 or zone 4 range. Most all of my time was zone 1, 2, upper 4, and 5. I did not spend a lot of time in four and five but two workouts per week took me to that zone. I will be going to Tucson tomorrow to train with a couple hand cyclists and I deciding if I’m gonna spend a lot of time in zone 2 and 3 followed by a very hard workout on Saturday morning. I’m OK spending the rest of the time in zone 1 and 2. It’s crazy, yet common sense, how hard workouts can really tear us down physically and mentally. I like seeing that race pace feedback at least once per week even if it’s only a shorter versus longer time frame. Being able to handle it comfortably is a confidence booster for me.
I’m on spring break right now from teaching but still watching the stock market and looking for good trades. I’m correcting papers that I got behind on for the first eight weeks of this semester for one class and I submitted grades for an 8 week class I taught. It’s time to bear down and focus on World Cups 2 and 3. I wanna perform at my best without overdoing it. Why? Because the first week of September is where it all needs to be shown perfectly on the road. I love riding my bike. I love just getting out on trails with nice weather and everything I need to just enjoy. I like saying hi to people as they pass me by or I pass them. It’s a great time to think. Much of my thinking has been with not overdoing it too much recently. Not just on the bike but with school and other endeavors. Balance is key! World Cup 1 in Thailand is happening next week and although I declined the invitation not too disappointed as there is lot of stress with travel and more. Thailand would be a fun vacation but we are there to race and not see the sites. Speaking of being comfortable, I would not be comfortable in Thailand with the heat and humidity. That takes a lot of enjoyment out of it. It’s time to head off to the gym so I’m going to leave this here until the latter part of the month
