June update

My post for this month isn’t going to be very long. When I returned from Italy last month it was 5 days later that I would get a call that my mom was involved in a serious automobile accident. She was T-boned by another driver at high speed. She spent 6 days in the ICU but was not able to make it. It’s been a very difficult past 4 weeks. I was up in Utah immediately and where she was hospitalized. Her and my stepfather were traveling to an RV park where they would work for the summer. It was a good way for them to get out of the heat during the summer in Arizona. I was there next to her for the 6 days and ended up coming home on day 8. We had the memorial service a couple days ago. It’s going to be a very trying time for a while. I began training again and it’s been very good for the mental health. I know my mom would want me to keep training and racing as she was my biggest fan. It made me so happy that PossAbilities sunflowers for my mom’s burial. It was very touching!

The next 3 months is a continual gradual build and much more specific than what I’ve done over the past 9 months or more. I wasn’t in the shape I could have been in at the World Cups this year but the plan was not to overtrain as there were three and a half months until the World Championships once you’re turning home from the world cups. I put my old set it back together on my Jet bike versus the disc brake and larger wheel I was using the past year. It puts my bike in a much better position for me with respect to my function. Actually I did some threshold in video to work and it was surprisingly not that difficult.

My time right now is involving healing from what I mentioned in the first paragraph, trading, and training. It’s just a really weird time and adjustment. I’m very grateful to have the friends that I do that have supported me through this time. I will write more next month and I hope I have some great things to share
