Readers, friends, supporters,
Here at home, on the mend now. Shoulder surgery went well, and I am doing my part for a good recovery – time to fix my wings so I can fly again:)
It’s hard to sit still and do nothing but this is exactly what I need right now. I’m grateful I’m able to, and having my family here to help me is a blessing.
Each day is an inch closer to a full recovery. 6 weeks in a sling. Then, a few months of Physical Therapy. Strengthening the weakened muscles. Get real fit again. And all of this hoping the other shoulder doesn’t get worse! -it’s already flaring up… but if needed I’ll take care of that as well. “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll!”
This is like when you’re in the thick of training -it almost, or fully becomes boring. Not every session is glorious and you’re thinking about snowboarding and racing and Paralympics. There’s a lot of homework that needs to be done before the exciting parts. But that’s what it is, the consistency -you keep at it and the result will come. It’s similar to what this recovery feels like.
But that’s good. Like I said before, it will just stoke my inside fire more, when I’m ready to go at it again. One day at a time. Trust the process!
