Borders still closed:-(

Greetings brothers & sisters! I waited until today to post and try not to sound like a broken record. Canada is still closed for non essential traveling, meaning races aren’t happening. The official government website was going to revisit this idea on Nov 21st, and the verdict is that they’ll stay hunkered down. It makes sense. Covid cases are spiking up due to flu season in the northern hemisphere. This is not the time to be risking and traveling I guess. But I...

First race of 2020/2021 CANCELED

Hello fellow supporters and friends, I learned what I was afraid was going to happen. The 2 season openers, which were indoor races both in Dubai (October) and in Sweden (November) were canceled due to Covid. I was planing on racing the one in Sweden. And was really hoping it was going to happen. But things were not very promising and then finally it was official, canceled:-( What to do now? Keep training and focusing on the next one, which...

DEDICATION

Hey hey! A good talking point is the inspiration to train or do something in general. We all know there can always be an excuse to not train. But when you want to reach the highest level of competition, excuses are no good. You have to give your all to deserve to be there. This is something I learned from my triathlon former coach, Jack Bianchi, “I can’t teach you motivation” he said. He could give me all the training drills...

Game changer:

Greetings friends, Andre here again, sharing awesome news:)) It’s quite safe now to announce that Karina and I are expecting another baby!! Stella is going to be a big sister!! It’s about to get really busy again, all that fun baby stuff that a lot of you know about... We decided we won’t find out the sex until birth. Never thought I would be ok with this but I’m extremely peaceful with it. All that we care is that baby is healthy....

PossAbilities MAKES it possible

Hey hey, hope everyone is keeping it together, one day at a time. I would like to take a moment to appreciate Team PossAbilities. I do always appreciate them and also count my blessings. How lucky am I or are us to have them in our lives?! In changing sports, due to the circumstances I was sort of heading into the unknown. Of course I did my homework and had been studying the possibilities if I were to do it. But...

Burton is on board!

Howdy! Exciting news to share with everyone; I connected with Burton a couple months ago, which is very best brand of Snowboarding —as a matter of fact, Jake Burton (founder) invented the sport! Knowing that he was very fond of disabled sports, I sent him a personal message on Instagram. Unbeknownst to me, on that same month he also passed away because of cancer:( As luck would have it, a good friend of mine grew up with the now Vice President of Burton....

COVID-19 & Rankings

Hello to all of you guys that care to come and check on us:) Covid is getting more serious by the day, and it affects people differently. I’m hoping everyone stays healthy and safe but also know that any of us could get it, if we didn’t get it yet... The pandemic actually helped my position in the Para snowboard rankings. My racing plan, that I was advised with help from the Brazilian Snow sports federation, was to race in Canada (which...

Corona Virus Pandemic is Real

Dear readers, personally I thought COVID-19 was over hyped. Then suddenly it got out of control: country borders were closing, people were being furloughed in their jobs, sports and all travelling was cancelled. It is real. Selfishly I was mad because we had an excellent late season for snow, rain & such —I had a couple of training trips to Mammoth planned, and was extremely excited with that. Until the mountain closed, early, because of Covid. Honestly, I’m just saying...

Lessons from Snowboard racing:

Greetings dear supporters and readers; I want to share how much I learned from my experience in Canada. Snowboard takes so much energy out of you, and then on top of that, going from sea level to mountain heights always gets me —altitude sickness. Your body has to work extra hard to adapt. I knew the workouts would have to change when you change sports. And I did change my workouts, based on what the coach from the Brazil’s snow...

Speed Nation NorAm ParaSnowboard Nationals

Hey guys, I bring great news from Canada, where I had 2 separate races in 2 days! This was an amazing experience and my first time racing Snowboard Cross (SBX), also a chance to accumulate points to enter the rankings. A couple of mishaps along the way, one could say I had the odds stacked against me, but I saw it as an opportunity. Arriving there in the evening, I would have the following day for training in the mountain (with 2...
