Annual Celebration Dinner

Wrapping up 2015 with Gold

Saturday, November 7th was the final race of the National Circuit of Paratriathlon in Brazil. It happened in a beautiful beach town called Ilhéus, in the picturesque State of Bahia, northeast of the Country.  It was so hot at race time, 2pm, that when I was walking en route to prepare my transition, my tire's tube exploded! Our wedding 

October 22nd was a day to remember. After 10 years together Karina and I officially said our "yes" to each other. I did very little to help with the organization, because of all my racing/ training/ travelling. It was almost all her work, and it was beautiful! It was quite simple but phenomenal. SDTC 2015

The San Diego Triathlon Challenge is a yearly pilgrimage I have written about before. It's a beautiful event put on by the Challenged Athletes Foundation, it's similar to Team PossAbilities Triathlon. It happens at La Jolla Cove, a gorgeous location, and as always Loma Linda's Team PossAbilities was well represented --this time by quite a few relay teams! I always choose to do the 1-mile swim part, and this year was specially warm, I even chose not to wear a wetsuit....

Sports Luncheon with Bethany Hamilton

PossAbilities and Quest Diagnostics had an amazing event for our Road2Rio program, a truly unique Sports Luncheon. I was emotional many times upon realization that everyone that came to that event were there to support us, to support our cause. For a surfer turned triathlete like me it was extra special: they had shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton tell her story to us. It was very inspirational, and we all learned a lot that day. 1st ISA World Adaptive Surf Championship

At the end of September, with the support of PossAbilities I participated in a historical event. It was the first ever Adaptive Surf Championship, and it happened in La Jolla Shores, San Diego. A total of 69 athletes from 14 different countries were in attendance, with a big crowd and some heavy names in the surf world cheering us on. The waves were really small, so I didn't really have a fighting chance, and didn't go past the 2nd round....
