Edmonton ITU 2015

Canada... What a place! It was quite cold, but the vibe from the City of Edmonton and the people were the exact opposite. From the airport to the hotel to the main avenues, there were posters and banners announcing our race, saying "the super humans are coming!" I've never seen anywhere so welcoming, and felt that I belonged there. They were really organized, after all, this is where they had the World Finals last year.  Prior to the event, when we...

Saturdays Training

Hi everybody,my name is Nick. I am the newest member of the Road to Rio program. I ride an upright bicycle and love to train. Here is a link for my training session from Saturday. http://www.strava.com/activities/385729850

Learning with my mistake

August 16th I found myself racing in Detroit, for another ITU Race. They had the event on this beautiful island that's literally a stone throw away from Canada, called Belle Isle. Weather was hot and humid, very tropical. I had a great start on the swim, leading until about 100yards to shore, then 2 guys passed me. After a fast transition, I started out leading on the bike split again! All was looking good so far, even though a couple opponents...

ITU Rio – Test Event for the Olympics

The event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was just amazing! It was invitational, but you still had to qualify. I was honored to be part of it, and I learned in the week prior that I was in. Because of my World Ranking (I'm 11th), I was right "on the fence" between making the StartList or not. I was first on the WaitList, but you just never know. Most people were going to show up to see and get a...

2015 Monterrey CAMTRI Triathlon Pan American Championship

Hi guys, I bring really good news from my last race, the Pan American Paratriathlon Championship in Monterrey, Mexico. The place was beautiful, inside this Park called Fundidora. Swimming was in a fantastic canal (a first for me), and the Bike part looked like it was designed for Formula 1, full of curves, which made for a beautiful show for those watching. I had been specifically training strong for this event, because the PanAm counts valuable, extra points for my #Road2Rio campaign,...

2015 Racing Schedule Starts in Australia!

Greetings my friends, Here I am in "God's Country," Australia, a truly blessed place. Cannot believe this was a prison back in the day... Who really deserves blessings, forever, is Team PossAbilities and Quest Diagnostics, because without them, I would not be here now. This was my first racing event of the year, and the beginning of my Paralympic campaign, a journey that will extend onto mid 2016 --by then we'll know for sure IF I will make the cut. A lot...

The Return to Mammoth Mountain

Last weekend was a defining moment in my life, The Return to Mammoth Mountain.   I fantasized many times about how it was going to be and what I was going to feel. And I carry a lot of weight on my shoulders because I know that back home (specially) my mom and my grandma were just a bundle of nerves when they heard I wanted to go back and "face the dragon". The truth is that I owe a lot to this place,...

Two Thousand Fourteen in review

Hello Possabilities folks! What a great year it was... I must say it was one the best of my life. I grew a lot as an athlete. Grew stronger, and smarter. The results show the amount of work and dedication that go into it. And as always, I still have a lot to improve, that's what keeps it exciting! PossAbilities had great news with the partnering with Quest Diagnostics, a great addition to the Team. Welcome Quest! Never forgetting, of course, our Founding...

Manaus, Brasil, October 2014.

Hello my Possabilities friends! I have raced in some hot weather but this was a whole different level... Deep in the Amazon jungle, the heat combined with the humidity makes for some (almost) uncomfortable feeling. This was the final Race of the Brazilian Circuit of Paratriathlon and also the final leg of the world's ITU Paratriathlon. They even showed the event live on national TV down there. I arrived a week earlier to acclimate and that really made a difference... I made...

Thank you Trek!

Hello PossAbilities Family, I'm writing today to share this bundle of joy I have been experiencing: I got a new bike from Trek!! She is pretty, she is sexy and she is fast! Her name is Speed Concept, but I think it's fair that we call her The Speed Demon! Let's start from the beginning. I must acknowledge Fabio Maia, PossAbilities, Greg Johnson, Trek, Cotie Williams and Pedro Payne for this. When I was first starting on the triathlon path, Cotie said,...
