Course Marshal
Position Description: As a Course Marshal, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the bike race. Your primary responsibilities will include guiding and directing cyclists along the race route, ensuring they stay on the correct path, and providing assistance at intersections and potential hazard points. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe environment for both participants and spectators by managing crowd control and communicating any issues or emergencies to the race officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct cyclists and ensure they follow the correct course.
- Manage intersections and direct traffic as needed.
- Monitor for any hazards or issues on the course and report them promptly.
- Assist with crowd control to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
- Provide information and assistance to participants and spectators as needed.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle emergency situations.
- Friendly and helpful attitude.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Drug Testing Chaperone
Position Description: As a Drug Testing Chaperone, you will assist in maintaining the integrity of the race by ensuring that the drug testing process is conducted smoothly and fairly. You will accompany selected cyclists to the drug testing area and ensure that all procedures are followed according to the established protocols. Your role is essential in maintaining a fair competition and upholding the sport’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany selected cyclists from the finish line to the drug testing area.
- Ensure compliance with protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of the testing process.
- Report any irregularities or issues to the drug testing officials.
Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
- Excellent observational and communication skills.
- No relationship to racers or USOPC.
- Discreet and professional demeanor.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
General Volunteer
Position Description: As a General Volunteer, you will be a versatile member of the event team, providing support in various areas as needed. Your duties may include assisting with registration, handing out water and snacks to participants, helping set up and break down event equipment, and providing information to participants and spectators. This role is perfect for those who are flexible and willing to pitch in wherever needed to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with participant registration and check-in.
- Hand out water, snacks, and other supplies to participants.
- Help set up and break down event equipment and signage.
- Provide information and assistance to participants and spectators.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by event coordinators.
Requirements:
- Flexible and willing to take on various tasks as needed.
- Friendly and approachable attitude.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
Set Up and Tear Down Crew
Position Description: As a member of the Set Up and Tear Down Crew, you will be responsible for the physical setup and dismantling of the race event infrastructure. This includes setting up tents, tables, signage, barricades, and other equipment needed for the event. After the race, you will assist in taking down and packing up all equipment and materials. This role is vital for ensuring that the event is ready on time and that everything is properly stored and accounted for after the race.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with unloading and setting up event equipment and infrastructure.
- Arrange tents, tables, chairs, signage, barricades, and other materials as instructed.
- Ensure all areas are set up according to the event layout plan.
- Assist with dismantling and packing up equipment after the event.
- Help with loading equipment back into storage or transport vehicles.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area during setup and teardown.
Requirements:
- Physically fit and able to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Willing to work early in the morning.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
