Race Day Tokyo 2020

round. Photo by Casey Gibson Hello everyone, today was race day. I competed in the 3km Individual Pursuit on the velodrume. It was a hard day in many aspects. We had some problems with the front end of my bike which caused a delay in my qualifying. This was a very stressful time. I could have been disqualified because my bike was not ready to go. I am grateful that Team Australia was understanding and that the officials gave our...

2021 Road Nationals – Road Race

This year’s road race was a 32km course that started with a controlled start on a very steep, 8%, downgrade that we would have to climb to the finish line.  It was a large rectangular course that was mostly up on two sides and down on two sides.  The weather was warm but good for racing and the roads were fast and well maintained.  I started off strong and managed to work with others to stay towards the front. ...

2021 Road Nationals – Criterium

The criterium was held in downtown Boise on a great, rectangle shaped, course.  Road conditions were perfect and the weather was hot and slightly humid.  The race time was pushed back a bit which made everyone try and find a shaded place to stay cool before the event.  My plan was to go out hard and paceline with the lead or second group.  The plan worked well for a few laps then I fell off the back.  I ended...

2021 Road Nationals – Time Trial

The Road Nationals time trial was a 15km, out and back, course that was mostly an incline on the way out and a decline on the way back.  The road was in good condition, but a bit bumpy, and the weather was overcast with a tailwind headed out.  Having been my first race in over a year and a half, I was cautious about going out too hard and blowing up, hurting myself, or damaging the bike.  I had...

We have one more training camp and then head out to Tokyo August 17th. We received our schedule...

First Tokyo Prep Camp Complete

Hello Everyone, I wanted to give you a quick update on how my final month of Tokyo prep is going. I spent 6-10 July at the Velodrume in Carson, CA. Here we conducted a Team Track Camp, this consisted of two sessions each day. I was very nervous about camp because it had been almost two years since I had ridden the track. I had no idea what to expect. My coach put together a great training schedule and...
